Starts off at the top of a Valley mountain ridge - Rocky landscape, woodland, river, farms, waterfalls..

Road follows along side a river down hill - Could possibly pass several derelict farms, houses, castle, railway tracks, wooden fences, mines, - Possibly a hidden short-cut through a mine would open up the level, making it more interesting and it also could benefit the player in his/her's much haste to the finish line. Going through the mine would be 5x quicker but very challenging - obstructions would be placed to make it difficult.

Mine exit would be placed on the other side of the mountain joining back up with the River/Road - leads through the middle of a commercial area of the village - old style 19th century housing, narrow streets, markets, statues, canals, train station. A train track could also lead through the town. Using train tracks, roads and rivers gives the player an indication whether he/her's going in the right direction.

Village is split in half by an enormous railway bridge/viaduct - you could have the choice to either drive over or under - each option would be an advantage and a disadvantage, choosing the right one would benefit the player in some way.

On the other side of the bridge/viaduct they will encounter a massive industrial complex - big steel foundries, smoking furnaces, power plants, factories etc - road/railway track/river either leads through or around the complex. Maybe a hidden route would be placed - a short-cut through a building or a canal.

The player is then greeted with lush fields, woodland areas, lakes, streams, bridges, castles, farms, cliff faces, windmills.

Map Idea-Ridgewood

Map Idea-Ridgewood
For this map I have an idea to create a race track that has a constant progression of scenery. Its based around the moorlands/valley type countryside starting off in a plain valley (very few trees for certain reasons). As the player progresses through the lush countryside, the player will encounter coal mines and mine shafts that is open to the player to use.(possibly a good place for a water tower for re-fill). The road follows the river along winding bends and cliff faces, finally reaching the heart of the 19th century Victorian industrial mining village. As the player drives through the village, he/she will have to manoeuvre through or around objects that's placed to make things difficult for the player. The village will have a market district and a residential area (these area's will have fountains, shops, street lights, a tipped over supply cart, hay stacks, barrels, crates, fences etc...) As they make it through the commercial area they reach a possible Railway station/Bridge or Viaduct which splits the village from the industrial part. (driving over or under hasn't been decided upon yet but it would be cool to add.) Once the player makes it through the bridge the landscape drastically changes, he/she is greeted by a fairly large industrial complex (This area is dark, smokey, foggy - a polluted feel) This part of the track will be quite a challenge because I plan to litter the area with barrels, crates, jumps and hidden area's. Finally, as you leave the village the landscape starts to change, they're welcomed by lush plain fields, farms, windmills and is also re-united with the river, which leads them to the finish line.
Old fashion stone bridge, implementing a few bridges before the village would make the countryside look more believable.
A quick concept of the area just before the mine and the village.

Mine entrance - this will help define my concepts.
This is a concept of a mine entrance which you can either drive past or drive through (optional). The mine leads through the mountain and meets back up with the road, it's a quicker route but is extremely treacherous.

A concept idea for the main road and mine entrance.
A quick drawing of some rusty barrels that will be found scattered across the landscape.
Idea for a water-tower.
