Moulding my Terrain!
To start with, I began laying out a rough area for the starting line of my level. This area consists of narrow cliff faces, towering mountains and a river which flows alongside the road - this gives the player(s) a hint on which direction to pursue and it also benefits a challenge when several players are blazing down this narrow cliff face, giving the opportunity to knock other players off the cliff into the river.
Several narrow bridges will be added through the map, making it awkward for players to cross and compete for position. (This is a temporary bridge)
Narrow cliff face/road on the left of the picture above. I aim to make the road alot more treacherous because it's to bland at the moment.
This section of the map will be used as a shortcutt through the mountains. I aim to somehow cut a Mine passage through the mountain which will then lead out by the castle and the lake, giving the player two route choices. The Mine will be extremely challenging but alot quicker.
As the player(s) continue through the narrow landscape, the scenery progresses and starts to hit the civilised section of the map where they will be passing several points of interest and various other landmarks which can be driven past or through. The castle on the mountain for instance can be driven through allowing the player(s) to take a secondary route through the race track.
The narrow road leading up towards the castle will be extremely tight and only room for one car at a time.
More narrow bridges!
Temporary castle at the top of the mountain.
A shot of the first section of the map.
